Adelle makes a great headline

Strong slab serifs make Adelle great for headlines, while a tall x-height makes it great for body text at the same time. Its twin, Adelle Sans, shares the same generous x-height, and looks great in small sizes for captions.

Slab serifs are often a challenge, but in the right context they can really give a strong personality to a site. Filler text is also challenging, so here’s a typography tip I tend to live by; as font size increases, weight should decrease.

So Very Meta

The diverse Meta superfamily

The Meta superfamily is incredibly diverse, making it suitable for a wide array of uses. A tall x-height makes this serif highly suited for long-form reading, and a complementary sans-serif counterpart is perfect for meta information (please excuse the pun.) Soft italics blend nicely into the text, and the family presents itself with a calm personality.

Plus; would you just look at those skinny caps? Meta’s designer, Erik Spiekermann, said it was designed to be a “complete antithesis of Helvetica,” which he found “boring and bland.”
